Description

Key Features of CONA®S Ball Float Steam Traps:

  • Material Options: Available in materials like grey cast iron, SG iron, forged steel, cast steel, and stainless steel.
  • High Pressure and Temperature Ratings:
    • PN16 / PN40: For standard installations.
    • PN63 / PN100: For high-temperature steel versions.
    • PN160: For high-pressure designs with capacities to handle pressures up to 110 barg and temperatures up to 525°C for specific models.

Types of Connections
:

  • Flanged (DIN EN 1092-1 / -2, ANSI)
  • Screwed sockets (Rp thread, NPT thread)
  • Socket weld ends (DIN EN 12760)
  • Butt weld ends (weld preparation per EN ISO 9692)

Performance and Mounting
:

  • Operating Pressure: Ranges from 12.8 barg to 110 barg depending on the pressure class (PN16 to PN160).
  • Temperature Limits: From 200°C for PN16 to 525°C for the highest temperature models.
  • Mounting Positions:
    • Standard: Vertical
    • Optional: Horizontal (with inlet from the left or right side)

Capacity and Flow
:

  • The steam traps are designed to handle hot condensate and, for larger systems, cold condensate.
  • The capacity charts in the document provide maximum flow quantities based on differential pressures and the size of the steam trap (ranging from DN15 to DN100).

Additional Features
:

  • Integrated Non-Return Protection: Prevents reverse flow from heat exchangers or downstream systems.
  • Quick System Start-up: The thermostatic control element allows for rapid system start-up.
  • Strainer Inside: To prevent debris from affecting the function of the trap.
  • Blowdown Valve: Available as an option for manual operation.
  • Controller Change: Can be changed without disturbing the pipework.

Installation Options
:

  • The CONA®S steam trap is designed for flexibility in installation with options for vertical or horizontal installations. Proper installation positions should be followed based on the system requirements.

Capacity Chart
:

The capacity chart indicates the maximum flow of hot boiling condensate. The capacity increases when using the thermostatic air venting capsule.

Additional Features
:

  • Back Pressure-Free Condensate Discharge: Ensures efficient drainage even during pressure and quantity fluctuations.
  • Thermostatic Air Venting Capsule: Facilitates rapid system start-up, especially for condensates with temperatures ≥100°C.
  • Integrated Non-Return Protection: Prevents reverse flow, protecting systems from damage caused by flooding.

Mounting Position
:

  • Standard: Vertical installation
  • Optional: Horizontal with inlet from left or right

Options
:

  • Vent Plug
  • Manual Air Vent Valve
  • Blowdown Valve
  • Recovery Pipe

Installation & Welding
:

  • Installation can be done in vertical or horizontal positions. Proper installation and welding procedures must be followed, particularly regarding the pipe welding specifications.
